James Nathan

After winning MasterChef in 2008 James Nathan gladly left his career as a barrister to dedicate himself to becoming a professional chef.

Working with, and learning from, many exceptional chefs including: Michel Roux Jnr, Michael Caines, Sebastian Bras, Richard Corrigan, Gordon Ramsey & Rick Stein, he has developed a simple and elegant style. Wonderful flavours and quality ingredients are his key to great food.

Much of his career was spent in Cornwall where he worked in Rick Stein’s Padstow empire before taking over from Nathan Outlaw as head chef of the famously foodie St Enodoc Hotel, Rock, Cornwall. He attributes his skill with fish and game to his Cornish years, but having lived in Andalucia for 3 years there is also a degree of Spanish and Moorish influence to his food.

Now based in beautiful rural Monmouthshire, James has launched his own private dining company, By James Nathan (www.chefjamesnathan.co.uk) catering weddings, parties and creating bespoke seasonal tasting menus for private dining in homes across the country.
