Game Pie


Makes 10 portions

Ingredients

Filling

  • 80ml Rapeseed Oil
  • 900g Mixed Game Meat
  • 200g Minced Pork
  • 400g Mushrooms sliced
  • 250g Red Onions diced
  • 20g Garlic Puree
  • 2 litre Veg Stock
  • 50ml Rice Vinegar
  • 100g Gravy mix

Shortcrust Pastry 

  • 250g Plain flour
  • 85ml Water
  • 110g Margarine

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and brown the mixed game. Add the Mince Pork
  2. Add  the onions until starting to soften. Add the garlic, mushrooms and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the stock.
  4. Bring to the boil  and simmer gently for 40-50 minutes until the meat is tender.
  5. Thicken with gravy mix 
  6. Heat the oven to 200⁰C/180C/Gas 6
  7. Put the meat mixture in a pie dish. 
  8. Top with pastry and egg wash.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until browned.
