Communities across the country are invited to come together to mark 25 years of British Food Fortnight from 26 September to 11 October 2026.

The annual awareness campaign is unique in combining grassroots activity across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland with promotions across retail, hospitality and the public sector.
Love British Food partners including Morrisons, Red Tractor, Compass Group, Brakes and Fresh Direct – who are helping bring the anniversary to life through menus, special events and supplier stories in shops, workplaces and foodservice settings.
During the opening weekend, Love British Food and Compass Group will host a ‘Celebrating British Food’ reception at Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, recognising the contribution British food makes to communities, jobs and economic growth across the UK.
Once again thousands of schools are taking part, with activities ranging from cookery sessions, harvest celebrations and farm visits to recipe competitions and seasonal menus. Preparations already under way include children seeing their school-grown produce transformed by a MasterChef Professional finalist with budding young chefs encouraged to take part in the demonstration.
Hospitals are creating nostalgic British menu favourites for staff and patients, while pubs, cafés and restaurants are putting British produce centre stage. Farms, food businesses and communities are bringing the Fortnight to life through tastings, tours, festivals, harvest lunches and shared meals.
Alexia Robinson, founder of Love British Food, says: “For 25 years, British Food Fortnight has brought people together to celebrate the extraordinary food produced here in Britain and the farmers, fishermen, growers and food makers behind it.
“I rejoice in the many imaginative and innovative activities that bring our two-week awareness campaign to life. People's enthusiasm and commitment to showcasing British is testament to its value in society, and I encourage everyone to get involved.
"From cooking and sharing meal made with British ingredients with family and friends, visiting a local producer, or enjoying promotional offers throughout the fortnight.
“And if you do want to go bigger, this is the year to do it. We would love to see schools, villages, towns, community groups, pubs, restaurants and families all creating their own events to make this year the most joyful celebration yet.”
Who is your Champion of Change?
The Fortnight is also an opportunity to nominate someone you know as this year’s Champion of Change through Love British Food and Morrisons’ 2026 community competition.
This could be an individual, group or organisation growing fresh produce for their neighbours, teaching children to cook, bringing people together over community meals, reducing food waste, helping people understand where food comes from or making fresh, seasonal British food easier to access.
Nominations can be made in no more than 500 words, explaining who the nominee is, what they are doing and why their story deserves to be celebrated.
Entries close at midnight on Sunday 11 October 2026. The winner will receive a special Morrisons hamper and commemorative oak plaque and will be featured across Love British Food’s website, social media and national and regional media.
A national celebration of harvest
British Food Fortnight will draw to a celebratory finale on Sunday 11 October with two special events giving thanks to the people who produce food from Britain’s land and seas.
The National Harvest Service in St Mary’s church, Nantwich, will continue Love British Food’s tradition of bringing people together to give thanks for British farmers and the food they grow and produce.
On the same day, the Harvest of the Sea at Exeter Cathedral will highlight Britain’s fishermen and fishing communities, recognising the people who harvest food from our seas and the coastal communities and businesses that depend on them.
Together, the two services will provide a fitting conclusion to the anniversary Fortnight, with an open invitation to anyone who wishes to join in and give thanks to the people behind British food from field and coast to plate.
Be part of the 25th anniversary
British Food Fortnight runs from Saturday 26 September to Sunday 11 October 2026.
