Food - a fact of life developed a number of hands-on activities and display materials to help your pre-school children learn more about where their food comes from. Session plans provide guidance on how to deliver the key information and introduce a range of activities. Activities include matching colourful food images to the shops where they can be bought, matching food images to the plant or animal from which they originate and following instructions for growing chives and filling in a watering chart.

LEAF Virtual Farm Walk - great interactive opportunity to find out all about farming and the environment. Two real farmers, Sally and David, are ready to show you around the virtual farm. There are lots of fun things to do on the walk, with lots of fascinating facts about farms and the animals and plats that live on them. British Nutrition Foundation has a variety of posters to provide teachers and students with accurate and concise reference information. The poster, 'What are nutrients?' provides detailed information on the functions and sources of nutrients. Posters can be ordered off the British Nutrition Fundation website.

RSPCA has produced 12 new farm animal resources for KS1 & 2 and Early Years pupils. The free resources include fun activities to help children understand where their food comes from, the use of labelling and how they, as consumers, can make a difference to farm animal welfare.
