Food and sport go hand in hand and in the build-up to 2012, we are encouraging Councils to put British food at the heart of their Olympic celebrations.  Here are some fun ideas for Councils to start planning now:

Plan an opening ceremony British street party: show the opening ceremony on big screens in the centre of town and invite local producers, retailers, pubs and restaurants to fill the streets with market stalls serving the best of your Borough's local produce.

Opening Ceremony commences on Friday 27th July 2012

Hold a BBQ party with an Olympic theme in your local park!Invite members of the public for an Olympic BQQ. Organise fun sporty games for families (shot put, javelin, 30 metre dash, long jump, relay and perhaps some silly games like apple bobbing or a sack race!). Invite local restaurants and producers to provide the catering with a delicious British BBQ.
