Front cover A Taste of Country Markets

In this cookbook are modern, traditional and regional recipes.By following them, everyone can enjoy A Taste of Country Markets, the best of home cooking.

"This book is full of the type of recipes which contribute to the justifiable reputation of Country Markets as custodians of genuine home family baking.Wherever they are held, in village halls or at Farmers' Markets, Country Markets sell out rapidly.I have been an enthusiastic supporter for some years because everything is baked in their own domestic kitchens and is fresh, local ... and delicious! What's more, you can chat to the cook and know you are buying good wholesome food."
Antony Worrall Thompson

"Country Markets produce and sell cakes, bread, tarts, jam, pickles and so much more every week ... a reminder of what a rich food heritage we have in the UK.And now you can not only eat what they produce, you can make it yourself with these first-rate recipes."
Sheila Dillon, BBC Radio 4's "The Food Programme"

"In this age of ready-made meals and mass produced foods it is easy to forget the tremendous pleasure and health benefits to be gained from rejoicing in quality home-made food.Thank goodness for Country Markets who champion this across the land and remind us that culinary delights sometimes associated with a bygone age offer some of the most wonderful meals we can enjoy now and in the future."
Alexia Robinson, Organiser, British Food Fortnight
