The Crabstock Boys
Crabstock® is about teaching people about the health benefits of eating Great British shellfish as well as the social and economic importance of supporting
the country’s fishing industry. We fully believe that our shellfish is the best in the world and that we should do all that we can to keep all our
wonderful, nutritious, sustainable shellfish on the menu.
Crabstock® is (also) a fantastic opportunity to engage local inland communities, and our tag line for many years has been “Bringing the Coast to the Countryside” Since 2015 we launched a pop up seafood Fruit-de-mer restaurant “Crab, Stock & 2 Smoking Lobsters” serving a full seafood platter featuring some of the finest and freshest UK Seafood and is located at various food festivals around the UK and every year it just goes from strength to strength.
Collectively known as The Crabstock Boys we tour the UK with our very unique Crab Picking, Fish Filleting and cookery demos, we like to think that we entertain the audience as well as educating them in a fun way.
The Crabstock Boys are Adrian Bartlett & Andy Hunting.
Adrian Bartlett from South Devon started fishing in 1986, starting as a deckhand then working his way up to skipper on Crabbing boats or potters based in Kingswear South Devon. Adrian has fished for Edible brown crabs, native lobster and other shellfish all around the UK coast but mainly built his crabbing career in the English Channel in the tidal waters North of Alderney (Channel Islands) on various boats and for various owners. After working in the industry for 28 years and being passionate about the UK Seafish Industry, an opportunity arose where he could share his knowledge and passion with the UK public and chefs to show how good UK Shellfish is to eat and how easy it is to pick a crab without fear, so along with Andy Hunting Crabstock® was born!
Adrian is also a trustee with Fishing into the future, and Crabstock® is the only festival to be a member of the SAGB Shellfish association of Great Britain,
he also teaches at Cornwall college catering students the benefits of prepping shellfish correctly and flavour combinations, he works with Western
marine training based in Plymouth training future fishermen and delivering safety awareness to the industry.
Andy has always been passionate about food, growing up on hearty stews and glorious puddings which in Andy's eyes are real comfort food... and after his
mother sadly passed away he decided to write a blog called "Andys Kitchen" in February 2010
to keep some of her recipes alive, and for a place for him to post some of his culinary ideas.
Years later and his blog is now one of the most popular in the UK, and features recipes, competitions, reviews and much more. Andy also owns a Food Photography & Recipe Development company called “Food-O-Graphy”, and his passion for food has seen him work with Artisan Producers and major Food Brands developing recipes and creating stunning food images for use in digital in print formats.
Andy uses local and sustainable food as much as he can, and with his seafood demos he likes to prove that there is no need to be frightened of cooking seafood and shellfish.
