Damsons are in distress! Damson orchards are in decline as jam-makers import the fruit from abroad and few supermarkets stock them. 30 years ago 500 tonnes of English damsons were sold each year, now it is less than 100. Yet damsons have an incredible intense flavour perfect for rich British puddings like crumble or cobbler. And they now have a celebrity champion - Kate Moss is hooked on making damson jam!
