All meat and poultry in Sainsbury's Christmas and New Year party food range is now 100% British so look out for mini British beef burgers, bite-sized toad in the hole and party sausage rolls. And by the end of January, Sainsbury's will be the first of the big four supermarkets to use 100% British meat in its own-label pies, soups and ready meals. This is a huge step forward - only a year ago Sainsbury's sourced only 10% of the meat for its ready meals from the UK!..

Sainsbury’s has announced that it is going to use only British, high quality meat in all its ready meals, even in its curries!  The only exception is where continental meats are used for authenticity, such as the prosciutto ham used in Sainsbury’s ‘Inspired to Cook Basil Chicken and Prosciutto Ham’.  Sainsbury’s has also announced that British vegetables, when in season, are now used in all side dishes and vegetable medleys, and all potato dishes will be made using British Maris Pipers.
