Restaurant of the month: The Bell Hotel
The Bell Hotel is a 16th Century Coaching Inn, bursting with history and character throughout. Attracting visitors from far and wide, we are on the Market Square in Winslow, the heart of Buckinghamshire countryside.
Famous for our Award-Winning pies and our Sunday Carvery, we really are a part of the local community. We regularly hold functions such as our 'Beef nights' at the start of the year and helping to put on the Annual Prime Stock Show in December. We regularly exceed over 100 covers a day from breakfast right through to bar meals of an evening and 200+ on a Sunday afternoon for our Carvery lunch. Recently opened within the Bell is Toby's, an a la carte restaurant serving sumptuous meals at affordable prices.

Why do you do what you do?
I am passionate about British locally sourced produce and want to carry on the traditional British fayre.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
As a chef there is nothing better than seeing empty plates coming back to the kitchen.
What do you enjoy least about your job?
Due to long working hours I am unable to attend the local agricultural events.
What achievement for the restaurant are you most proud of?
Winning the 2018 Pub Pie at the British Pie Awards
Do you use British produce?
Yes, all our meat, eggs and dairy are locally sourced British produce. We try to support as many local business to Winslow as we can. Even if it means using more suppliers.
What do you think is best about using British produce?
Knowing where the produce has come from and that it has not travelled a long distance. We are very passionate about supporting our local farmers.
Why should people buy British?
It is very important to know and understand where your food comes from and to give back to our own British farms. Also, the ability to have a working relationship with the people who grow/rear the produce. By supporting local business, they will support you as well. Many of our suppliers are involved with The Bell in some way. Whether it's for fund-raising or functions to hosting many young farmers events.
