Case Study: Emsworth British Food Fortnight 2017

Emsworth, a beautiful small town on the south coast once again celebrated British Food Fortnight in magnificent fashion. Having won the Love British Food award for the best celebration in 2014 and finishing a runner up in 2015, Emsworth and the whole town community know how to put on a great British food show. To celebrate 2017 British Food Fortnight, Emsworth enlisted the support of local brands and organisations such as Montezuma’s, The Brookfield Hotel and the Southern Co-operative to help combine community, education and celebration all focused around British food and the town of Emsworth. Their 2017 celebrations included:

  • Over 150 pupils at local schools took part in Food Education workshops.
  • 75 local catering students took part in college lunches at Brookfield Hotel.
  • All ticketed events over the fortnight were sold old with amazing local community support.
  • The flagship ‘Seafood Community Lunch’ event sold out in just 28 minutes.
  • An excess of 200 litres was produced at the annual Apple Pressing Day, a record number.
  • An excess of £1,000 was raised for local causes including Emsworth Primary Schools.
  • Once again, a wonderful food mountain was built for the Beacon Food Bank by the local community
