Celebrate the best of British

Love British Food 2012
2012 will be the most patriotic year in our lifetimes with the Diamond Jubilee and the arrival of the greatest sporting event in the world on our shores. What better way to express our patriotism than through food! Which is why in 2012 we are planning activities throughout the Diamond Jubilee year and we are changing the dates of British Food Fortnight, for one year only, to run at the same time as the Olympics under the banner ‘Love British Food 2012’. The attention of the world will be on us so let's use the opportunity to put not just Britain but British food in the best possible light! Food and sport go hand in hand: sport inspires us to be more active and eat more healthily and food is part and parcel of getting together with family and friends to enjoy great sporting occasions.
Dates of Love British Food 2012 are 27th July to 12th August 2012

In 2012 Love British Food will be showcasing the best of British to the world

“We are delighted to be working with British Food Fortnight. Food is as much a part of our culture as art, theatre and music and 2012 offers a fantastic opportunity to celebrate Britain's food heritage. Food and sport go hand in hand so what better way for people to enter into the spirit of the Games than by enjoying Britain's wonderfully diverse and delicious food with their friends, families and communities.”
Ruth Mackenzie, Director of the London 2012 Festival
In 2012 British Food Fortnight will move from its traditional autumn slot to run at the same time as the Olympics (27 July to 12 August) under the banner ‘Love British Food 2012’. We have the biggest opportunity for a generation to showcase the best of British to the world. Food and sport go hand in hand and we want the whole nation to be feasting on British food as they cheer our medal hopes home. The eyes of the world will be on Britain and British Food Fortnight is bringing the best of British to the world.
“In 2012, Britain will be hosting the Olympics for the first time since 1948, and the world will be looking at what we do, and how we do it. Thankfully, it's coming at a really great moment for British food. I'm happy to say we’ve never been more ready or able to impress. We've got fantastic food here in Britain and it's time we celebrated it, especially as we'll have the eyes of the world on us in 2012.” Jamie Oliver in Jamie's Great Britain cookbook.
